Updated 8/16/2021:
Hennebery Eddy’s Portland office reopened July 6, 2021, during regular business hours. In accordance with the Governor of Oregon’s order mandating the use of masks in all indoor public settings, all employees and visitors to the office are required to wear masks effective August 13, 2021, regardless of vaccination status. Many firm members are continuing to transition back to the office. However, Portland-based staff will continue to work remotely, or exercise a hybrid remote/in-studio schedule, to accommodate personal circumstances related to COVID-19 safety. In order to optimally serve our clients, the health of our staff, families, business partners, and the community remains a priority, and we will continue to monitor and comply with local and state health orders in Oregon and Montana.
In March 2020, we successfully pivoted to remote work, and in doing so discovered both benefits and consequences to working from home. Ultimately, we have longed for in-person collaboration — there is something missing when we don’t spend time together in a shared space. Informal communication, happenstance, and checking in briefly as someone passes by have value and invite inclusion. In-person connections spark collaborative thinking and encourage design discourse. The people of this firm are the heartbeat and creativity driving Hennebery Eddy, and we look forward to being in each other’s company again.
In mid-June, our Portland team gathered outdoors at Ash+Ash, and the Montana office enjoyed a courtyard happy hour, to celebrate the 10- and 20-year work anniversaries of several staff members. Being in each other’s company sparked a palpable energy that we look forward to sharing when the pandemic slows pace.
