Put Me In, Coach!

By Hennebery Eddy

It’s the first week of September – school is starting up and fall is just around the corner, which can only mean one thing: the AIA Softball league’s season is coming to an end.  This Saturday, the Hennebery Eddy Orange Crush will take the field for the last time this season.  While our victories have been largely moral, rather than the type that show up in the standings, it’s been another great season.

We welcomed several new members to the team this year, both in the office and on the field.  While it’s sometimes tough to get away from deadlines and work around busy summer schedules, playing softball is important experience for many of our younger staff.

Perhaps the biggest victory of the season was running away with the KGW School Supply Drive challenge issued by DOWA-IBI Group.  Newcomer Lauren Loosveldt made it her personal cause to score big in the annual event.  Following her lead, Orange Crush, with the support of the entire Hennebery Eddy team, donated almost $700 worth of supplies for Portland Public Schools.  In total the Drive provided over 8,000 children with supplies this year.

As we say goodbye to another great season, we look forward to a winter of film study and trips to the batting cage, getting the team prepared for more wins in 2013.
