Hampton Inn Portland urban design Hennebery Eddy Architects

Hampton Inn & Suites Portland – Pearl District

Drawing on our deep experience navigating the Portland urban design entitlement approval process, Hennebery Eddy collaborated with Wisconsin-based hotel developer Raymond Management Group and architect GBA for the new Pearl District Hampton Inn & Suites, articulating the urban character of the building and designing its exterior.

We crafted the urban design concept and relationship to the pedestrian environment and the Pearl District neighborhood as a whole, creating a dynamic streetscape. Hennebery Eddy’s design for the building massing and masonry skin are reminiscent of the historic brick and timber industrial buildings that anchor the Pearl District. The revised design creates a highly contextual building and enabled the project to win enthusiastic approval of the city’s Design Commission.

Sited along downtown Portland’s North Park Blocks, the 201,000-square-foot, eight-story building includes 243 guest rooms, two levels of parking, and ground-floor retail and restaurant space. A roof terrace overlooking the Park Blocks offers views of the city, and a celebrated restaurant and bar with dramatic overhead folding doors opens to the vibrant street level.
