Behind every great design are thoughtful, talented people. At Hennebery Eddy, the strength of our portfolio is a direct reflection of our staff. Our collaborative team shares a passion for architecture and interior design and possesses an interminable work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit. We stand for the power of design thinking in building diverse, inclusive, and sustainable communities — including our own studios. As a JUST Organization, we are driven to become a leader in workplace equity and committed to making a net-positive contribution to our shared environment.
Hennebery Eddy Architects is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer. We are always interested in meeting talented thinkers, makers, and creators and invite you to read more about our firm values and culture, then learn about our current openings and apply online at the link below.
“We really have pride and integrity about what we do — that we’re doing the right thing not just for a specific client, but that we’re doing the right thing for the place, the users, for the building.”
— Principal Carin Carlson
Compensation starts with pay and is so much more. We go beyond the basics, offering comprehensive benefits that reflect our shared values and collaborative philosophy, and support our employees, their interests, and their futures. These are just a few of our comprehensive benefits.
From professional dues and continuing education to LEED accreditation fees and professional licensure, we support lifelong learning and development through annual allowances and reimbursement. From its early years, Hennebery Eddy has supported the development and path to licensure for aspiring architects, and professionals who become licensed or accredited while employed at Hennebery Eddy qualify to receive reimbursement for the exam fees, plus an additional PTO award.
We believe in giving back to our community. We provide opportunities for paid volunteer and community service, involvement in professional organizations, and a community service scholarship awarded annually to a member of our staff. The Hennebery Eddy Gives program includes an employer match for qualifying charitable donations.
Our health care plans include medical, dental, and vision options, so employees can choose what works best for them, including FSA and HSA options.
Flexibility is key when it comes to time off. PTO can be used for vacation, sick days, appointments – it’s up to our employees and their individual needs.
We don’t match, we contribute – no matter what. Employees are eligible for our monthly Safe Harbor contribution, equivalent to 3% of salary, starting immediately upon employment. In addition, each employee can make voluntary contributions to conventional or Roth 401(k) retirement savings plans. Employees may also receive an additional profit-sharing bonus.
Just as our design process is collaborative, so is our success. Provided we meet our annual targets, employees are eligible for profit-sharing bonuses, via both a year-end cash bonus and through additional 401(k) contributions.
Our commitment to the environment means alternative transportation is a priority. In addition to a private, secure bike storage room in the Portland studio (with changing, shower, and repair facilities), we offset the cost of public transit passes through monthly stipends and pre-tax dollars.
Hennebery Eddy offers paid internships to architecture and interior design students in their final years of undergraduate or graduate studies. We attend job fairs at design schools throughout the country as well as participate in specific internship programs, such as the University of Cincinnati’s Cooperative Practice Program, the COTE Top Ten for Students internship program, and the Energy Trust of Oregon’s Net Zero Emerging Leaders program. If you are interested in interning at Hennebery Eddy, download our program flyer below for more details and application instructions.
Having a balanced exposure to the entirety of the profession is key to becoming a complete architect or interior designer. Our student internship program is designed to give interns firsthand experience in a broad range of areas associated with working in a design firm, structured around five focus areas: design participation, project team immersion, staff connections, committee participation, and research. In addition to supporting project teams, student interns complete a research project and present their findings to the firm. Our internship program has adapted to accommodate remote work as needed.
