The comprehensive renovation Zabel Hall, the primary classroom building for EOU’s College of Business and College of Education, balanced deferred maintenance and system upgrades with improved teaching and learning spaces. Classrooms were reconfigured to incorporate both traditional and modern instructional tools and to provide for flexibility in teaching. The transformation included a revitalized building entry, full window replacement, and the addition of a student commons and informal learning spaces to encourage more interaction between students and faculty.
“I am just amazed given the size of budget we had for this project that we replaced significant systems in the building, a new roof, large pieces of mechanical system, the windows, and still managed to make really dynamic changes to how spaces felt and how people could use the spaces.”
