Hawthorne Elementary School

Adding permanent classroom spaces and improving accessibility were top priorities when Hawthorne Elementary School expanded. The two-story, 12,500-square-foot addition created seven new classrooms, additional restrooms, and an elevator. The lunchroom and food service preparation area moved to the first floor. The resulting bright, functional, and dynamic space is accessible to all, and eliminates the need for shared and temporary spaces. Technology and HVAC systems were also upgraded, along with site features including sidewalks, access components, and green space. Finally, the renovation relocated the main office to a new, more secure public entry. The firm’s Comma-Q Studio worked with contractor Langlas & Associates on the addition and renovation of this elementary school in Bozeman School District #7.
